ABOUT MARK
Mark Eveleigh is a travel writer and photographer whose work has, over 25 years, graced the pages of some of the world's most prestigious travel titles.
It was his 1995 expedition to the 'valley of the spirit world' in Central Borneo that first captured editors' attention; he was the first outsider to explore the headwaters of the Mandai River, believed to be haunted by the ghosts of the Iban headhunters. Since then he has written from maximum security prisons in Bolivia (not as an inmate), Tuareg camps in the Sahara and undercover assignments on besieged Zimbabwean farms.
For Mark it really is more about the journey than the destination, and so he's never bothered to tally up the number of countries he's visited – although he estimates it's somewhere around 70. He's covered everything from street food in Bangkok, anti-poaching in iSwatini and luxury resorts in Bali to ground-breaking Land Rover expeditions in Oman, Mongolia and Argentina.
Mark's books have been published by National Geographic and Lonely Planet Journeys, and Kopi Dulu, his homage to Indonesia, was released by Penguin Random House in 2022.
